CARNIVAL FEVER BACK IN MELBOURNE

With less than 12 months to go until over 1200 Jewish teens from around the country and around the globe kick off the 29th Maccabi Junior Carnival, the committee is preparing for what they think will be ‘the best games ever’. The Carnival will hit Melbourne again from the 18th to the 25th of January, 2011.
Competitors can choose from up to 20 different sports, ranging from Indoor Soccer to Table Tennis, Basketball to Mixed netball, where the states/countries will go head-to-head to take out the bragging rights and become the overall winners of the event.
Participants will be arriving from all over, with locals from WA, NSW, Queensland and Victoria, as well as internationals from Hong Kong, Singapore and New Zealand. They will come together to form lifelong friends, and be a part of the biggest youth event on the Jewish calendar. Maccabi is the only organization in the country to run an event that billets over 600 competitors into private homes.
The participants will also be able to attend social events each night, being able to interact with fellow Jews from around the world.
Carnival organizer Mark Klapish commented, “Our children can be true ambassadors as they demonstrate to the broader Australian community the true meaning of repairing the world.”
Maccabi Australia invites the whole Jewish community to get behind this wonderful event, as it allows competitors to play their favourite sports, and make friendships that last a lifetime.
